If you are looking for a truly unique holiday experience with a combination of history, comfort and unbeatable panoramic sea views, then the Coastguard Lookout on the outskirts of Old Hunstanton should be high on your list of places to visit!

Originally built as a Marconi Wireless Station back in 1906, the Coastguard Lookout played an important part in both World Wars, intercepting German radio transmissions and tracing the German fleet.

The Second World War saw the building continue as a signal station and was visited by his Majesty King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in 1943, together with Princesses Elizabeth (Queen Elizabeth II) and Margaret, who spent time with the Coastguard and all four signed their royal insignias in the coastguard’s log book. This is an event remembered by a proudly-displayed commemorative plaque on the side of the building.

In 1976 it became a maritime museum which eventually closed. Several years later new owners carefully restored the building leaving the original features in place.

This exceptional location along the cliff tops, ‘next door’ to the Old Hunstanton Lighthouse, is perfect for watching birds, people, boats, ships and the ever-changing tide and weather from the coastline at Hunstanton continuing around to Kings Lynn and then Skegness and beyond – at any time of the day.

The Lookout Tower located on the top floor of the property allows you to really make the most of the location. Fabulous west-facing sunsets can be seen from the top of the tower which is unique for the east coast and not to be missed. We are sure that guests will spend a lot of time in the tower with their binoculars enjoying the view any time of the year, any weather with a cup of coffee or glass of wine! On fine days you can even make use of the walk-around balcony and its charming secluded terrace.

The property sleeps 4 people; featuring double bed and 2 bunk beds. The beds are all located on the first floor – all with amazing sea views!

Old Hunstanton is only a short walk away, where you will find a shop, a deli, a post office and several pubs and restaurants. The cliffs and beach are just a 5 minute stroll away!
